Charles Louis Streu, 62, of Coloma, Mich., passed away suddenly and unexpectedly Saturday Aug. 23, 2014 at his home in Coloma.

Services with Military Honors celebrating his life will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 29 at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma where visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. Cremation will take place following the service. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Charlie may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Charlie was born in December of 1951 to Charlene and the late Charles E. Streu in Blue Island, IL. and graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1969. He went on to become a proud Veteran of the Marine Corps serving in Vietnam where he earned his title as a lifelong comrade of the YBBCC. Charlie was proud to be a member of the exclusive Marine Vietnam Veteran Club for the last 42 years. Following his four years of enlistment, the Streu family relocated to Coloma where they owned and operated Deer Forest for 13 years. Charlie worked in various positions at AEP and recently retired after 38 years of dedicated service. Charlie will be remembered relaxing in his “fortress of solitude,” listening to Jimmy Buffett, reflecting on his most recent golf game. Charlie and his family are fortunate to have 42 years of fond memories on Paw Paw Lake.

Charlie was the beloved husband of 20 years to Janet; loving father to Michelle (Shane); son of Charlene and the late Charles E. Streu; brother to Kevin Streu, Ross (Lisa) Streu, and the late Scott (Kathy) Streu; loving uncle to 8 nieces and nephews; cherished friend, neighbor, and fellow Marine brother to many.
