St Joseph and Lakeshore High School Volleyball Team Up to Fight Cancer

Every year the St. Joseph and Lakeshore High School’s Volleyball programs team up to fight cancer for their annual Dig Pink event happening September 21st at St. Joseph High School. Proceeds from this year’s ticket sales, pink t-shirt profits, and on-site raffles will benefit the important work of the Marie Yeager Cancer Center.

The DiG Pink event is a national movement where volleyball athletes from around the country participate to raise money to fight cancer. Middle school, high school college, club, and adult teams will become advocates for those with cancer while raising funds to support research that is giving more time to those battling this disease.

Admission for the event will be $7. Anyone who purchases a St. Joe Dig Pink event t-shirts in advance or on-site will be admitted to the event without needing a ticket. T-shirts will be sold locally to students at St. Joseph High School lunches on 9/20 and 9/21 for$15. Shirts will also be sold to the community during the volleyball match at the front door. There will also be an on-site raffle for gift cards and passes to area businesses.

“We want to thank the community for showing up to support this important event every year,” says Kelm. “While we coach our student athletes to be the best they can be on the court, we want them to understand how important it is that they represent their community. That is why this event is one of the ways they can be their very best off the court as well. Seeing these two teams put their rivalry aside every year for this important cause, makes this one of the most important games of our season.”

The teams will present a check to the Marie Yeagar Cancer Center in between games at the Dig Pink Event. All attendees are encouraged to wear pink to show their unity and support in raising money for this important cause.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at Spectators are encouraged to come early to buy tickets for the raffle.
