Violet Kloko Obituary

Vi was born December 18, 1926 in Benton Harbor to John and Tillie Pastrick.  She passed away at the age of 94 at Woodland Terrace in Bridgman, MI.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Don Kloko. 

She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1944.  Her first date with Don was at the Shadowland Ballroom at Silver Beach.  They were married May 22nd, 1948 at St Matthew's Lutheran Church in Benton Harbor. Vi worked in the office of the JC Penney store downtown, and also as a part time receptionist with Michigan Fruit Canners.  Later on she was a stay at home mom, and enjoyed raising their children and spending many summers at their lake cottage in Ludington.

After retirement in 1982, Don and Vi moved to Florida six months out of the year.  Vi was very active in her churches, Grace Lutheran in St Joseph, MI and Resurrection Lutheran Church in Winter Haven, FL. She sang in the choir, participated and volunteered in many school and church projects over the years. She enjoyed dancing, crafts, counted cross stitch, playing cards, word puzzles, and baking.  Don and Vi were often seen at Cypress Gardens after church, enjoying the big band concerts, boat excursions and entertainment.

Vi was preceded in death by her brother Albert (Virginia) Pastrick and sisters Elsie (Fred) Baum and Dorothy (Hurschel) Snider.

She is survived by her son Jeffery Kloko of Madison, WI and his dear companion BJ Lim; her daughter and caregiver Lori (Matt) Miller of St Joseph, MI; five granddaughters, Beth Johnston of  Fort Wayne, IN, Katie (Justin) Grumbir of Minnetonka, MN, Kelly Johnston of St Joseph, MI,  Lynda (Dave) Vandenburg of Berrien Springs and Beth Ward of St Joseph; eight great grandchildren,  Audrey, Nadia, Olivia, Genevieve, Gia, Harrison, Sophia and Lila; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 5:30 pm and precede a memorial service beginning at 6:30 pm at Grace Lutheran Church in St Joseph on Tuesday, August 10th with Pastors Bishop and Rosenbaum officiating.
