Watercolor Walkabout series of plein air classes at Box Factory for the Arts

Have you wanted to try painting outdoors? Perhaps you have heard about urban sketching or painting "en plein air" but didn't know how to get started. Box Factory studio artist David Baker is offering a "Watercolor Walkabout" class in July which will feature outdoor sketching with a splash of color.

The class sessions will meet on Thursday, July 13 from 6 to 8 pm; Sunday, July 16, 2 to 5 pm; Thursday, July 20, 6 to 8 pm; and Sunday, July 23, 2 to 5 pm. The group will meet in the Box Factory's main floor gallery space, 1101 Broad St., before venturing outdoors.

David will help participants paint on location without packing a lot of gear. By painting in and around town, the group will explore a variety of motifs, such as landscape, floral, beach, and architecture. Demonstrations, examples from art history and casual critiques will be part of the fun.

The non-refundable class fee is $100 for Berrien Artist Guild members and $110 for non-members. Online registration is available at https://boxfactoryforthearts.com/classes-workshops. A materials list will be provided upon registration.
