Elizabeth Schlipp, 84, of Benton Harbor, MI, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, MI.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Wade Blankenship officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service starting at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home. Elizabeth was born on September 14, 1930 in Chicago, IL to Frank and Katherine (Wilhelm) Kuhn. She married Alfred Schlipp and together they had three children. Elizabeth was proud to be able to stay at home and raise her children. Her family was her life. Elizabeth was an amazing cook and baker. She was always known for having candy, and was even called “Grandma Candy”. Elizabeth was involved in the community, volunteering at Memorial Hospital in St. Joseph. The Christmas holiday was Elizabeth’s favorite time of year. She showed her great holiday spirit dressing up as Mrs. Claus at Meijer for many years. Elizabeth impressed many people with her beautifully wrapped gifts. They were truly a work of art.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, Kathy (Henry) Schilke of Benton Harbor, Alfred (Brenda) Schlipp of Watervliet, and Holly (Jack) Hyden of Benton Harbor; four grandchildren; Patty (Dave) Overton, Renee (Mark) Landrum, Danielle (Dave) Stewart, and Adam Schlipp, twelve great-grandchildren; and sisters, Eva Krzemen of LaCota, MI, and Ann Peterson of Vicksburg, MI.
She is preceded by her parents; husband, Alfred Schlipp on June 18, 1994; and brother, John Kuhn.
