Gwendolyn Smith Obituary

Gwendolyn Smith, 74 of Coloma passed away on May 13, 2026 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19 at First General Baptist Church of Coloma, with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Coloma Cemetery. Memorial donations in Gwen’s name may be made to the church or the American Heart Association.

Gwen was born May 4, 1952 in Watervliet to James and Virginia (Phillips) Willoughby. On November 21, 1970 she married the love of her life Creight Smith Jr. and together they were blessed with two children and seven grandchildren. Gwen and Creight were best friends, celebrating 57 years together and her family was her world, always putting them before herself. Visits from the grandkids made her day and she also enjoyed gardening, watching game shows and court TV, and loved seeing all of the wildlife in their front yard.

Gwen is survived by her husband Creight Jr.; children Creight (Kim) Smith III of Coloma and Jennifer Lynn (Joe) Rudell of Benton Harbor; sisters Pamela Willoughby of Kalamazoo and Carol Anchor of Hartford; and grandchildren Kayla (Ryan Jerue), Kourtney and Kendyl Smith and John, Julie, Jessica and Jane Rudell.

In addition to her parents, Gwen was preceded in death by her brothers Ronnie and Rickey.
