John Wayne Altom Obituary

John Wayne Altom, 68 years old passed away on Monday, May 4th, 2026 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, Michigan. John was born on July 1, 1957 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Stanley and Mary Lou Baushke Altom. He was a member of the Coloma High School class of 1976. John was known to be a "jack of all trades", working at many local factories and fruit processing plants. He was quick to make people laugh. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping whenever there was an opportunity. His love for his friends, generous spirit, smile and willingness to lend a hand will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune to know and love him. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will have a memorial gathering at a later date. Burial will be in the Coloma Cemetery. John is survived by his ex-wife, Brenda Johnson, and step sons Rick Doggendorf and Troy Caprez and many friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Glenda Altom.
