Judith L. Stelter Obituary

Judith L. Stelter 85, died on July 30, 2026, at home with family by her side. She was born in Chicago, IL to LeRoy and Charlotte Stadt on July 12, 1941. On January 18, 1958, she married John V. Stelter, and together they had (3) three girls, moving to St. Joseph in 1967. She loved her entire family dearly and unconditionally. Over the years she provided in-home childcare for over 60 different children, every one of them holding a very special place in her heart. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and playing bingo and cards.

Judy was proceeded in death by her parents, husband John, sister Lynn Wilkins, and son-in-law Steven Gray.

She is survived by her daughters, Joyce (Steve) Lewis, Jill and Julie Stelter; grandchildren, Shannon Gray, Melanie Gray, Stephanie (Andrew) Tolles, Zachary Rinehart, and Nicole Lewis (Ryan) Olinger; great-grandchildren, James and Charlotte Tolles, and Jackson and Jordan Olinger. Also surviving are close and dear friends, Jerry Rinehart, Kim and Floy Latham and their children. A special Thank You to Heather, LaTonya and Jen. Your visits, care and friendship we’re greatly appreciated by her and her family.

A Memorial service will be held at Starks and Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph on Thursday, August 6 at 11:00 am. Final resting place will be at Hickory Bluff Cemetery. Please feel free to visit Judy’s online guestbook at www.starks-menchinger.com.
