Julia Marie Nurbhai Obituary

Julia Marie “Juli” Nurbhai, 45, of Benton Harbor, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at Hanson Hospice Center, after a valiant battle.

A celebration of life service will be held at noon on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Visitation will take place one hour prior, from 11-noon also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Juli’s name may be made to Peace Lutheran Church, 3590 Lincoln Ave, St. Joseph, MI. Juli was born on September 10, 1978, in Oak Lawn, IL, and graduated from Elkhart Central High School, class of 1997. She furthered her education at Goshen College, earning a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Her professional journey led her to Ronald E. McNair Elementary School in Compton, CA, and Benton Harbor Charter Academy, but her proudest role was nurturing her cherished son, Mohammed "Mo," and daughter, Zamia "Mia," as a devoted stay-at-home mother.

Known for her vibrant energy and outgoing personality, Julie relished outdoor activities such as hiking, going to the beach and being active. She truly loved people and had a deep love for nature. In addition to her appreciation of nature and trees, she was also fond of animals and truly loved the state of Michigan. Juli was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in St. Joseph and loved the Lord. Most of all, she was a devout wife and mother and cherished the time spent with her family.

Juli is survived by her husband of 20 years, Mufadhal “Mufi” Nurbhai; son, Mohammed “Mo” Nurbhai; daughter, Zamia “Mia” Nurbhai; mother, Susan (Kenneth) Kroneweitter; father, Luther (Janet) Albrecht; sister, Bethanne (Eddie) Jackson and brother, Timothy (Angie) Albrecht.
