Lucille Songer, 80, of Benton Harbor, passed away Friday morning, Sept. 18, 2015, at the Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.

Lucy was born December 2, 1934 in Wardell, Missouri; one of seven children born to Herman and Eunice (Petty) Pipkins. Her family relocated to this area when she was a young girl. She met the love of her life, Johnny Songer, in an orchard while picking peaches as a teenager. The couple wed on June 1, 1952 and had recently celebrated 63 years of marriage together.

Lucy was a ceramist, a crafter and also loved to sew and fish. Above all else, she loved her Savior Jesus Christ, her family, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.

Lucille is survived by her husband Johnny; two daughters, Denese Poole of Benton Harbor and Dana Barrick of Portage; her son Johnny D. Songer of Webster, NY; two sisters, Betty Buchanan of Gideon, MO and Joyce Pikey of Malden, MO; three brothers, James Pipkins of Nederland, TX, Charles Pipkins and Melvin Pipkins, both of Parma, MO; six grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Louise Clayton.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma with visitation immediately prior beginning at noon. A graveside committal service will immediately follow at Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.
