Bryce was born on June 20, 1921 in Detroit, MI to Brice and Edna (VanStone) Dunlop.  He graduated high school from the Detroit Public Schools and enrolled at Michigan State University, where he received his degree in Business Administration.  His education was interrupted for four years at the onset of World War II, where he served in the U.S. Army in France and Okinawa.  Following his completion of military service and education, he moved to Three Oaks, MI and worked at the Bank of Three Oaks.

On August 16, 1947, Bryce married the former Marjorie Wise.  In 1957, they moved to Coloma, MI where Bryce worked for the remainder of his career at the State Bank of Coloma (formerly Chemical and now TCF Bank).  He retired from banking in 1985 as the Executive Vice President of the bank after a 28 year career in Coloma.

During their long and healthy retirement, Bryce and Marjorie loved cruising and made more than 30 cruises, mostly to Alaska, where Bryce fished frequently and caught his share of halibut and salmon.  They also entertained their family every Thanksgiving, where Bryce prepared more than 50 turkeys, always on the Weber charcoal grill.

Survivors include his three sons, Dr. Bryan (Patty Leino-Jones) of Manistee, MI, Richard (Renee) of Flint, MI, and James (Vicki) of Coloma, MI.  Also surviving are three grandchildren, Dr. Cristina (Dr. Ming Chien) Dunlop, Jeffrey (Holly) Dunlop, and Ryan (Emily) Dunlop, and eight great grandchildren, Broden, Suzannah, and Thea Chien and Bryce, Caroline, Eli, Brynnley, and Titus Dunlop.
