Floyd Turney

Floyd Thomas Turney, born February 2, 1925 in Higden, Arkansas, died August 28th, 2014, at home in St. Joseph, Michigan. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Esther Lee Turney (Barnum), sons Floyd “Danny” (Millie), Rodger (Shirley), and Don (Jane), eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary (Harold “Leon” Miller), his father Robert, mother Amanda and stepmother Ida, sisters Clara and Anna Mae, and brothers Roy, Ray, and Floyd’s twin, Lloyd.

Floyd retired from Auto Specialties after 32 years and then worked at Southshore Development Company for another 21 years. He served his nation during WWII on Saipan for the Army’s 804th Aviation Engineers and his story can be found in the Lest We Forget book “WWII Memoirs by Southwestern Michigan Veterans”.

A memorial celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 6th at the Turney residence at 3529 Lakeshore Drive in St. Joseph.
