Roger Duane Longacre, 64, of Benton Harbor, MI went to see his Lord and Savior Sunday, November 2, 2014 He lost his courageous battle with cancer after almost 13 years. He was a fighter and fought as long and as hard as he could.

Roger was born on April 8, 1950 to Dale & Ebba (Erickson) Longacre in Benton Harbor, MI. He was the bar manager at The Mark III for several years before he became the receiving manager at Resistance Welding.

Roger leaves behind his wife Carolyn Smith; sisters Shirley Vachon of Delaware, OH., Marlene (Richard) Schalon of St. Jospeh, Sandra (Michael) Hettig of Benton Harbor, Diane Ruth of St. Joseph, Laura (Rodney) Mayes of Tulsa, OK.; brother Dale Jr. (Kay) Longacre of Galien; mother-in-law Merrie Rohm of St. Joseph; father-in-law Russell (Retha) Smith of Belaire, MI.; brother-in-laws Craig (Kathy) Smith of Walker LA., Eric Smith of Ferndale, MI.; sister-in-law Angie (Steve) Robinette of Kentwood, MI., He also leaves behind numerous nieces & nephews in whom he adored.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents; sister Joanne McGrath and his brother & sister-in- law David (Sharon) Longacre.

Per Rogers wishes cremation has already taken place and a private gathering will be held at Saron Lutheran Church in St. Joseph on Wednesday, November 5, for family and close friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan, Hospice at home or Hanson Hospice Center.
