Ruth was born in Hayti, Missouri, to George and Earline “Helen” Rule. On November 17, 1962, she married Lester “Jim” Yerington. Together, they owned and operated Jim’s Café in Dowagiac for over 25 years, where Ruth became known for her warmth, hard work, and welcoming spirit.
Ruth was a devoted Chicago Cubs fan and rarely missed a game. Whether cheering them on through good seasons or tough ones, she remained loyal and hopeful, often sharing that joy with family gathered around the television. She also enjoyed attending Bible study and spending time with her family. She especially cherished moments with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.
She is survived by her daughter, Lori (Adam) Wade; two grandchildren, Mandy Wood and Aaron (Amber) Wade; five great-grandchildren, Riley, Amelia, Dexter, Andrew, and Auston; one brother, George Rule; and one sister, Jan Carr. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim Yerington, on August 6, 2011 and two Sisters Mary Sloan, Jenny Hanley.
