William F. Lockwitz Obituary

William “Bill” F. Lockwitz, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 in St. Joseph, MI. Bill was born on December 18, 1948 in Benton Harbor, MI to Gustav and Frieda Linda (Popke) Lockwitz. On October 26, 1968, Bill married the former Christine Lucker and the two celebrated 57 years of marriage together. Bill was a graduate of Lakeshore High School and Central Michigan University. He was employed by Auto Specialties and Whirlpool Corporation for many years before retiring.

A lifelong resident of St. Joseph, Bill enjoyed spending time with his family at the beach. Bill loved being a father to his two daughters, and grandfather to his six grandchildren. Family meant everything to him and he always made sure they were his first priority. Bill had a great sense of humor and loved laughing and having a great time.

Bill will always be remembered by his wife, Christine; daughters, Katherine (Mark) DeMercurio and Sarah (Benjamin Auerbach) Lockwitz; grandchildren, Anthony, Lauren, and Dominic DeMercurio and Bernard, Carl, and Jane Auerbach-Lockwitz; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gustav and Linda; and sister, Darlene Parnell and Karen Vatroba.

Honoring Bill’s wishes cremation will take place and his family will be celebrating his life privately. Arrangements by Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI.
