“Al-Van Humane Society Holding Open House and Cookie Caper on November 15”
As part of WOW weekend, Al-Van Humane Society will be holding its annual Open House on Saturday, November 15 from 11 am to 3 pm at both the shelter and the organization’s resale shop, Rescued Treasures. Al-Van Humane Society is asking if you come to the Open House that you bring a donation for the animals such as a bag of Purina dog or cat food, a bag of cat litter, pet treats, paper towels, garbage bags, or pet toys.
“We encourage and welcome the community to visit our shelter and resale shop as part of Women’s Only Weekend (WOW). We will be holding adoption specials for all our female dogs and cats available for adoption as well as our annual Cookie Caper fundraiser,” stated Executive Director Will Anzenberger. “We are asking the public for in-kind donations of Purina pet food, collars, dog leashes, pet treats, or cleaning supplies to help us stock up for the winter, ” added Anzenberger. Plates of holiday cookies can be purchased for $5 at the shelter or Rescued Treasures and at any of the following locations: Murphy's Mall, Kerry Mark, Cotton Bay, Decadent Dogs, and Shore Style.
In 2014, Al-Van Humane Society has increased the number of animals spay or neutered prior to adoption. With the introduction of the Meet Your Match adoption program, Al-Van Humane Society has seen a significant increase in the number of adoptions in the last two months. Most recently, the organization received a grant from a private foundation to add new outdoor play areas and a meet & greet adoption area.
