The concert will feature solos and small ensembles; as well as a specialty piece arranged by Four Corners bassist, Jack Shales, which will be performed by Four Corners and the Coloma choir students. Four Corners was founded in Kalamazoo, MI in October of 2009 and since then has been rapidly generating excitement throughout the vocal jazz community. Playing off of an innate sense of blend and limitless ambition, Jack Shales, Nich Mueller, Brooke Lauritzen, and Chelsea Helm have built up a unique repertoire of standards, originals, pop tunes, and more. The quartet has performed at a wide variety of events and venues across the Midwest, including the 2010 Gold Company Miller Show in 3,000 seat Miller Auditorium, the Pride of the Fox River Festival in St. Charles, IL, the Kalamazoo Black Arts Festival, the First United Methodist Church of South Haven, the Union Cabaret & Grille in Kalamazoo, and the Dalton Center Recital Hall at WMU. The Corners have been featured at private parties for anniversaries, retirements and more. These four young musicians quickly found in each other a tight network of creativity and support.
