Dr. Kathleen Andries joins SJJF Board
The St. Joseph Junior Foundation (SJJF) is pleased to announce that Dr. Kathleen Andries has joined our board of directors. She is familiar with the organization since her three sons learned to sail with the SJJF and then became instructors of the SJJF sailing school. Her sons, “the Ray boys,” and their dog Kodi were active at SJJF for about 16 years. The boys taught basic sailing to Mom and many others in the adult classes. Sons Pat and Casey eventually were Chief instructors successively. Both of them were on the Michigan State University sailing school and a collegiate regatta was held in St Joe on two occasions. Kathy organized the social part of the collegiate regatta feeding up to 80 hungry sailors and the regatta staff, as well as getting volunteers to house university sailing teams in their homes. The SJJF and supporters helped in MSU being voted regatta host of the year.
Dr. Andries is a recently retired physician who served this community for 34 years. She is happy to have more time to devote to her other interests. In addition to this new role she plans to travel, cook and work on her garden and develop new hobbies as well. She has been on the boards or volunteered for Lory’s Place, Hospice at Home and The Samaritan Center (now known locally as Centered on Wellness). She will be seen more at the SJRYC and would like to spend a little time on the water too.
