Fourth Annual 9/11 Hero Climb Returns to St. Joseph High School

Last year, despite pouring rain, over 200 participants joined local firefighters and area first responders at the 9/11 Hero Climb, scaling 2071 steps to honor the fallen. This year, on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, the event returns, uniting the community with local firefighters, Berrien County Police and EMTs for another symbolic ascent on the bleachers at St. Joseph High School. The event is hosted by the BOSS Services Foundation and co-host Honor Credit Union.

Starting at 8:46 am, mirroring the time when the first plane hit World Trade Tower One, participants will begin their climb, echoing the resilience shown on the fateful day of September 11, 2001. For those who may not be able to climb the stairs, a one-mile lap (for all abilities) and chip-timed 5k on the school’s track offer alternative ways to show support and unity.

Now in its fourth year, the 9/11 Hero Climb embodies community unity and remembrance. Former Marine and BOSS Services Co-Owner Jeff Street emphasizes the event's significance: "Remembering 9/11 is about honoring the resilience, unity, and unbreakable spirit of this country. We truly never forget those firefighters, first responders and community heroes that gave all to save their fellow Americans. We believe this event is a positive way to keep their memory alive."

All proceeds from this event directly benefit Berrien County Fire Departments, aiding in the purchase of critical equipment. Last year’s Hero Climb raised $9000 that was subsequently donated to three local fire departments.

Everyone who wants to participate is encouraged to join the BOSS Services Foundation, Honor Credit Union and local first responders on September 11, 2024, at St. Joseph High School. For sponsorship opportunities, registration and more information, visit https://thebossservices.com/9-11-hero-climb
