Goshen to be site of new Martin’s Express store
Martin’s Super Markets, headquartered in South Bend, Indiana, has announced it will open a new format store in Goshen, Indiana.
The company plans to open a 22nd store in a location occupied by a soon-to-be closed Save A Lot store at 1401 College Avenue. The company has operated a Save A Lot franchise operation at that location since December 2007. That store will close on October 25.
The new store, to be called Martin’s Express, will be the first execution of a new format to be operated by the company. Plans currently target a spring 2015 grand opening.
“We’re excited to be able to bring this fresh, new concept store to the south side of Goshen,” says Marketing Director Amy Simeri-McClellan. “The word ‘Express’ as part of the name means we’ll be offering many of the favorite services Martin’s offers, but in a smaller, easy-to-shop, 26,000-square-foot format, which will be about 40% larger than the previous Save A Lot store.”
Company officials say the new Goshen Martin’s Express will feature all Martin’s regular weekly ad specials, as well as operate a Side Door Deli Café, Starbucks Coffee kiosk, Famous Salad Bar, full-service fresh Butcher and Seafood Shoppes, hot Deli foods, panini and sub sandwiches and beer and wine. Dairy, Frozen, Grocery and Health & Beauty Departments will offer a comprehensive range of the most popular selections.
“It’s our privilege to be able to offer the community of Goshen another Martin’s store conveniently located on the south side,” said President and CEO Rob Bartels. “Goshen is a vibrant, active city with a thriving present and an even greater future, and we’re proud to contribute to that growth.”
Martin’s Super Markets was founded in 1947 and currently has 21 stores in South Bend, Mishawaka, Granger, Elkhart, Goshen, Plymouth, Nappanee, Logansport and Warsaw, Indiana, and Niles, Stevensville and St. Joseph, Michigan.
