Gumper the Rabbit to Greet Guests at AWAKEN SW Michigan for National Day of Prayer
Gumper the Rabbit will greet guests at the AWAKEN Southwest Michigan event on Thursday, May 7 at 6 pm at the John and Dede Howard Ice Arena, 2414 Willa Drive in St. Joseph, Michigan. This lovable, children’s book character, created by local author and illustrator Cherie Okonski, teaches the importance of love, bravery, and unity. He demonstrates that differences are a gift and there is strength in working together--a perfect message for this community event.
Gumper the Rabbit is the star in Okonski’s early reader, chapter books--“where art meets heart, differences are a gift, and kindness is cool”. PRAY SW Michigan, event coordinators are excited for this partnership with Gumper the Rabbit. “We both believe in the power of love, kindness, and prayer.” This isn’t the first time Okonski and PRAY SW Michigan have partnered together. Okonski has been a sponsor to previous National Day of Prayer events.
The community is gathering, for the first time in this venue, in observance of the National Day of Prayer. Worshippers from all denominations are welcome. The event is free, open to the public, and handicap accessible. Dress for early May in Michigan.

St. Joseph Public Safety Officers will kick off the night with the Pledge of Allegiance. Community leaders will pray and share powerful testimonies of answered prayer. Carson Barnes, a 5th grade student from Trinity Lutheran will pray for First Responders. Expect live praise music, powerful worship and unity. Come expecting to receive.
