Jim DeLapa Collegiate at Point O’ Woods Seeks Sponsors and Volunteers for 2025 Event

September 27–29, 2025 – Point O’ Woods Golf & Country Club

The Jim DeLapa Collegiate, a premier collegiate golf event at Point O’ Woods Golf & Country Club, is inviting sponsors and volunteers to join in shaping a memorable tournament weekend. This inaugural event honors the club’s rich tradition in amateur golf while investing in the future of the game.

A Call for Community Participation

The tournament is currently seeking sponsors to support its mission and volunteers to help deliver a world-class experience. Volunteer opportunities are free to participate in and include essential roles such as:

Walking Scorers – walk the course alongside the players, keeping official scores
Hole Spotters – assist with locating balls and keeping pace of play

Sponsorship opportunities range from major presenting levels to custom packages, offering brand visibility and direct connection to the golf community. All or part of sponsorship contributions benefit the Point O’ Woods Educational Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to scholarships and leadership development.

History and Vision

The Jim DeLapa Collegiate brings together 13 of the nation’s top collegiate golf programs for a 54-hole competition, rekindling Point O’ Woods’ reputation for hosting elite amateur events. The event is named in honor of Jim DeLapa, a champion of mentorship, sportsmanship, and the growth of the game.

“Our goal is to celebrate tradition, elevate the collegiate golf experience, and inspire the next generation of players,” said Matt Flaherty, General Manager of Point O’ Woods.

Weekend Highlights

This year’s event promises excitement on and off the course:

Saturday Night Shootout (6:30 PM) – a lively kickoff competition (free to the public)
Sunday Tailgate Party (9:30 AM – 7:00 PM) – with food, drinks, and entertainment (free to the public - food and beverage available for purchase)
Sunday – 36-hole competition (9:00 AM) - “Wear Your Jersey Day,” and collegiate camaraderie (free to the public)
Monday – 18-hole final round (8:30 AM) followed by awards (free to the public)
