Kim Herrod Emig Obituary

Kim Herrod Emig, 72, formerly of Napa, CA and Chicago, IL, peacefully passed away Saturday, September 5, 2026, at her home in Stevensville, Michigan, surrounded by her loving family.

 

Private services will take place at Tulocay Cemetery in Napa, CA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Kim’s name may be made to Caring Connection which emphasizes serving families facing issues of abuse and neglect and senior citizens. Kim was born December 2, 1953 in Baltimore, MD to Dr. Chester & Marcella “Ski” Herrod. Kim lived in San Franciso, CA in her youth until the family moved to Napa, CA prior to her junior year in high school. She graduated from Justin-Siena High School in Napa CA, Class of 1972 and earned a bachelor’s degree in nutrition from Simmons University in Boston.

 

On October 5, 1985, she married Glenn Emig in Chicago. Prior to her marriage, she served as administrative assistant to senior property management officers and in the marketing department at JMB Realty Corporation in Chicago. Kim devoted her life to caring for her family and friends. She cherished the time spent with them and loved

cooking and sitting down with a good book. In her free time, Kim enjoyed playing tennis, listening to music, and all forms of art. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

 

Kim is survived by her husband Glenn; her children - Gabrielle (Brian) Murphy of San Diego, Gavin (Catie) Emig of Tinley Park, IL; and three grandchildren-Logan Murphy, Griffin & Hailie Emig. Kim was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Kate Anne Herrod.

 

A Celebration of Kim’s Life is being planned for a later date this fall.
