In conjunction with Responsible Pet Owners Month and World
Spay, Al-Van Humane Society (AVHS) is holding several special promotions to help spread the joy and
responsibilities of pet ownership. “We want our animals to warm your heart and to help spread the joy of
pet ownership during these cold winter months,” stated AVHS Executive Director Will Anzenberger.
“Whether it is offering reduced adoption fees, partaking in some Valentine’s Day fun at Decadent Dogs, or
providing tips on how to be a responsible pet owner, our shelter wants help strengthen the human-animal
bond any way possible during this special month.”
During February, AVHS will be offering the special promotions:
AVHS’ “Wait Loss” Adoption Program – We are offering reduced adoption fees on cats at our
shelter based on how long they have been at our shelter. Cat adoption fees are reduced by 25%
per month (up to three months) after the cat has been at our shelter over 1 month. Cat adoption
fees are waived for cats that have been at our shelter for over 6 months.
Kissing Booth at Decadent Dogs- On Saturday, February 14th from 3 pm to 5 pm, AVHS will be
celebrating Valentine's Day in style by having Dexter the French Bulldog, our unofficial shelter
mascot, working his magic at his Frenchie "Kissing Booth". Suggested donation is $1 a kiss.
AVHS will also have Valentine treats for visitors if they complete our Meet Your Match survey.
Mardi Gras’Dough Day – On February 17, while supplies last, we will have Paczkis for our
visitors. AVHS will also help you save money by offering microchips for an incredible $2.17! We
have a limited supply of these microchips with lifetime registration. Please bring proof of rabies
vaccination.
Additionally, AVHS will be featuring tips and suggestions on responsible pet ownership throughout the
month of February on its Facebook Page. AVHS encourages pet owners and business owners to help
spread the word about responsible pet ownership during this very harsh Michigan winter.
