Local Horror Film “Whispers” Returns to The Loading Dock for Special Screenings and Filmmaker Q&A
2008 Buchanan-filmed horror movie to return to the community where it was made; creators to share stories behind the film
BUCHANAN, MI — October 5, 2026 — A piece of Buchanan’s local filmmaking history is coming back to town this October when Whispers, a 2008 horror film filmed locally in Buchanan, is presented in two special screenings at The Loading Dock, 325 E. Front St., Suite 118, Buchanan, MI.
The screenings will take place Sunday, October 25 and Wednesday, October 28, 2026. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the movie beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15.
Following each screening, audiences will have the opportunity to hear directly from the people who brought the film to life. Producer Kurt Struss and Director Tom Zuber, creators of Whispers, will participate in a live Q&A session following the film, sharing behind-the-scenes stories and answering questions about the production. Local participants in the movie are also invited to attend and reunite with the cast.
For Buchanan residents, the event offers a chance to see familiar local places through a different lens—and to revisit a movie that was filmed in the community nearly two decades ago.
“This is more than a screening of an old horror movie for Halloween,” said Kate Gassman, Business Manager at The Loading Dock. “It’s an opportunity to bring a piece of Buchanan’s filmmaking history back to the community and hear the stories behind how the movie was made.”

Whispers was filmed in Buchanan in 2008, making the upcoming screenings an opportunity to explore the intersection of local history, independent filmmaking and the enduring appeal of horror movies.
The event may be particularly interesting to longtime Buchanan residents who remember the production, locations or people involved, as well as to movie fans interested in how an independent horror film comes together outside of a major Hollywood production.
