Lucky Ducky Kids Festival Comes to Downtown Buchanan
Family-Friendly Duck Race & St. Patrick’s Day Fun Set for March 14
Downtown Buchanan will be bursting with kid-friendly fun, community spirit, and a splash of St. Patrick’s Day cheer on Saturday, March 14, 2026, as the Buchanan Business Boosters invite families to the Lucky Ducky Kids Festival, featuring McCoy Creek Duck Race.
Designed to bring children and families downtown for a playful and engaging morning, the Lucky Ducky Kids Festival centers around a rubber duck race down McCoy Creek, beginning at 11:15 a.m. The race will start at Hilltop Creekside Café and serve as a whimsical highlight of a full slate of activities hosted by local businesses throughout the morning.
From 9:00 a.m. to noon, families can explore downtown Buchanan while enjoying a variety of kid-focused activities and specials, including a Lucky Duck photo opportunity provided by APEX Integrated Solutions, cookie decorating at Hilltop Creekside Café, themed temporary tattoos at Bucktown Parlor, kids crafts with Skye’s the Limit, and a vendor market hosted by Stroud Realtors. Kids can sing karaoke at The Loading Dock from 9:45-10:45am.
The Buchanan District Library will offer seeds from its Seed Library, while Union Coffee hosts a farmers market and special spring menu items from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Gustavasen will feature fresh cinnamon rolls from 10:00 a.m. to noon.
The event is designed to celebrate downtown Buchanan as a place where families can gather, kids can play, and the community can come together to support local businesses while making lasting memories.
In the spirit of community creativity, shamrock coloring sheets provided by the Roti Roti Art Center will be displayed in downtown business windows leading up to the event, adding a festive and kid-designed touch to the celebration.
The Lucky Ducky Kids Festival is made possible through the support of local sponsors and partners, including the Buchanan Business Boosters, Pour Decisions, APEX Integrated Solutions, Scarecrow Charities, Redbud Insurance, Hein Electric, The Loading Dock, and numerous local businesses and organizations.
Following the duck race, additional St. Patrick’s Day festivities continue downtown, including McCollum’s St. Patrick’s Day Run at noon and family-friendly dining and shopping specials, such as pizza and fountain soda deals at The Sweet Shop. The festivities continue on Tuesday, March 17th (St. Patrick’s Day itself), when the Buchanan Galien Lion’s Club hosts its corned beef and cabbage drive-through dinner fundraiser at the Buchanan Senior Center.
