Oronoko Twp/Berrien Springs Announces Citizens Academy
Oronoko Twp and the Village of Berrien Springs are looking forward to their third Citizens Academy starting next month. This is free for residents of Oronoko Twp or Village of Berrien Springs who are 21 or older. It will be held on Wednesdays, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, for 7 weeks starting on March 12th. Applications are available at BSOTPD located at 4411 E. Snow Road during normal business hours.
The Citizen Academy is 7 class sessions, two hours at each session, and spread out over 8 weeks. Participants will get a small taste of what officials do on a daily basis. Among the class topics are patrol operations, a “tour” of a patrol car, handcuffing and building searches, Det. Bureau operations and crime scene investigations, use of force, GEM car demo, firearm use and legal issues.
Participants should be able to attend all the classes if possible and be able to participate in class demonstrations. Class size is limited to 20 participants and must have a minimum of 10 to hold the Academy.
