Present Pillars Hosts Men’s Health Challenge and 5K Walk/Run

Present Pillars, in collaboration with Renaissance Athletic Club, is inviting the community to support men’s health this June through two meaningful events. The Men’s Health Month Challenge and the Men’s Health Awareness 5K will focus on improving the physical and mental well-being of men while encouraging families to get involved and show their support.

The Men’s Health Month Challenge will begin on Friday, May 31, and is open to 50 men from Southwest Michigan and Northwest Indiana. This month-long weight loss and wellness competition will help participants build healthier habits with access to fitness coaching, nutrition tips, and support from local wellness experts. The initial weigh-in will be held at Renaissance Athletic Club, located at 501 Graham Avenue in Benton Harbor, from 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM. Participants will return for a final weigh-out on Sunday, June 30, by 7:30 PM. The top three participants who lose the most pounds will win prizes. First place will receive five hundred dollars and a six-month membership to Renaissance Athletic Club. Second place will receive three hundred dollars and a six-month membership. Third place will receive two hundred dollars and a six-month membership. Winners will be announced on July 1.

In addition to the challenge, the community is invited to join the Men’s Health Awareness 5K on Saturday, May 31. This family-friendly walk and run will take place at The Pillar Center, located at 204 West Main Street in Benton Harbor. Registration will begin at 8:00 AM, and the walk and run will start at nine o’clock. Everyone is welcome, whether walking, jogging, or running. The 5K aims to bring families together in support of men’s health and to promote healthy, active living.

James Gunter, Executive Director of Present Pillars, shared that these events are about creating a culture where men feel encouraged to care for their health. “We want men to see the importance of taking care of their health as an act of love for themselves and their families. These events give men the opportunity to lead by example and show that taking care of yourself is something to be proud of.”

Present Pillars extends heartfelt thanks to Renaissance Athletic Club, InterCare Community Health Network, and United Federal Credit Union for their generous support in helping make these events possible.
