Project T to Break Ground in Benton Harbor

PROJECT T’ TO BREAK GROUND IN BENTON HARBOR WITH 28 NEW HOMES ON THE FORMER MERCY HOSPITAL CAMPUS

 

WHAT: Project T partners will gather for a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of construction on 14 duplex buildings — 28 new attainable two and three bedroom homes for families earning 60–120% of Area Median Income (AMI). The homes will feature sustainable design, specialty financing options, and pathways to homeownership. The long-term vision for the project includes up to 77 homes and a future childcare center.

 

Developed in partnership by Renovare Development and Harbor Habitat for Humanity, with support from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA), the Whirlpool Foundation, the Michigan Growth Office and the City of Benton Harbor, Project T blends public and private investment to strengthen neighborhoods.

WHO: Speakers will include leaders from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA), Renovare Development, Harbor Habitat for Humanity, Whirlpool Corporation & Whirlpool Foundation, the Michigan Growth Office, and the City of Benton Harbor, along with community partners.

 

WHY: Project T is about honoring the area’s incredible history and heart while creating new opportunities — homes that families can afford, spaces where children can thrive, and neighborhoods that reflect the strength of the people who will call this place home for generations to come.
