Registration Open for Annual Fit 4 Fall 5K
Registration Open Now for Annual Fit 4 Fall 5K on Oct. 10 in St. Joseph, Mich.
The Annual Fit 4 Fall 5K Run/Walk, organized by LECO Corporation, is returning to Silver Beach for another great autumn race. Chip start is at 9 am in front of Silver Beach County Park on Saturday, Oct. 10, in St. Joseph, Mich. There is also an option to participate virtually for those who cannot make the live event but still want to show support. This year’s Fit 4 Fall 5K will raise money to be divided among three nonprofit organizations — Caring Circle, Convoy of Hope and the LOGAN Autism Learning Center of Southwest Michigan.
“Every year, we are amazed to see all the people from our community and around the world who register for this event. They step up, show their support and bring great energy to race day,” says Race Co-Director Maria Hutchins. “Whether you’re in Berlin, Germany, or Berlin, Mich., we’re thrilled to have you join us!”
The first 500 registrants receive goodie bags, and all registrants receive a long-sleeve tri-blend race shirt. Attendees can also expect to find a wide range of bid items at the silent auction. All items are donated by local businesses. Presenting sponsors include The Buck Burgers & Brew, Mid-west Family Broadcasting, Hareloom Café, LECO Corporation, Corewell Health, and Mead & White Electric. “The local businesses and companies that come alongside us to support these wonderful charities are so generous and awesome to work with. We’re so thankful to have such great community support, and we hope we only keep growing from here!” Jackie Savard, race co-director, stated.
Last year’s race brought in just over $27,000 total for the three selected charities. There were over 500 registered racers and nearly 100 volunteers.
Early registration fees are priced at $30 for adults and $20 for youth ages 14 and under. Starting Oct. 3, a week before the race, registration fees will increase to $35 for adults and $25 for youth. Price includes the online processing fee for credit card transactions. A $5 discount per registrant for groups of 4 or more is also available. About Fit 4 Fall 5K: The Fit 4 Fall 5K started as part of LECO Corporation’s company wellness initiative in 2012. The inaugural race was held for employees, their families and friends. In 2013, LECO opened the race to the public and began raising money for local charities. The race originally took place at Riverview Park in St. Joseph, Mich. before it was relocated to Silver Beach County Park in 2019, but it has always occurred on the second Saturday in October.
