Stevensville’s Pachyderm Pedalers Named Club of the Year by League of Michigan Bicyclists

The Pachyderm Pedalers Cycling Club has been named Club of the Year (2025) by the League of Michigan Bicyclists, recognizing the club’s leadership in expanding access to bicycling, promoting rider safety, and building a stronger cycling community in Southwest Michigan. The award was announced as part of the League of Michigan Bicyclists’ 2026 Annual Awards, which honor individuals and organizations across the state who are improving bicycling through advocacy, community leadership, education, and infrastructure development. Award recipients were formally recognized at the Bicycle & Trail Advocacy Day Awards Luncheon on March 10 at the State Capitol in Lansing, where cyclists from across Michigan gather to meet with lawmakers and advocate for safer roads and connected trail systems.

“We’re incredibly honored to receive this recognition from the League of Michigan Bicyclists,” said Greg Collins, President and Founder of the Pachyderm Pedalers. “Our club was built on the simplicity and fun of bicycling, promoting healthy lifestyles, building bridges between communities, and strengthening person-to-person relationships.” A major milestone for the Pachyderm Pedalers came in the past year when the organization officially became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, strengthening its ability to expand programs, build partnerships, and advocate more effectively for bicycling infrastructure and safety throughout the region.

The club continues to grow the cycling community in Southwest Michigan by organizing safe, inclusive, and welcoming group rides for cyclists of all abilities. These rides emphasize predictable riding practices, road awareness, and supportive group dynamics, helping both new and experienced riders feel confident on Michigan roadways. Beyond weekly rides, the Pachyderm Pedalers have made a measurable impact through philanthropy and community partnerships. Each September, the club hosts its annual Beer:30 fundraising ride in collaboration with Watermark Brewing Company supporting Cycle-Re-Cycle in Benton Harbor. Through this event, the club has raised nearly $40,000 to support Cycle-Re-Cycle’s mission of providing bicycles, repair education, and transportation access to youth and adults in the community.

The Pachyderm Pedalers also actively advocate for safer bicycling infrastructure, supporting efforts to expand bike lanes, shared-use paths, and connected trail networks throughout Berrien County and Southwest Michigan.

The League of Michigan Bicyclists, a statewide nonprofit dedicated to improving life through bicycling, selects annual award recipients from nominations submitted by members of Michigan’s cycling community.

“Across Michigan, there are people and organizations doing the work to unify, advocate, and educate the community on what’s possible when passion meets action,” said Andy Rohrer, Executive Director of the League of Michigan Bicyclists. “These awardees represent the committed and passionate advocates that make our roads safer, our trails stronger, and our cycling culture more welcoming.”

By combining community rides, nonprofit leadership, advocacy efforts, and impactful fundraising, the Pachyderm Pedalers continue to demonstrate how grassroots cycling organizations can make a lasting difference. For the Pachyderm Pedalers, the recognition is simply motivation to keep rolling.
