Katherine Stanley Obituary

Katherine Stanley, 102, of Benton Harbor, MI passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI 49085. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M., Tuesday at the funeral home. Katherine was born on May 9, 1924, in Keeler Township, MI, to Fred and Daisy (Kidman) Hungerford. She worked for Hillsdale Manufacturing Company as a sewing machine operator, sewing military uniforms during World War II. On August 10, 1940, she married Arthur J. Stanley in Quincy, MI. Katherine and her husband were members of the Elks Lodge.

Katherine enjoyed sewing, crocheting, especially making doilies, drawing, bowling, cooking, and baking. She also loved visiting rummage sales and estate sales, shopping, and going out to dinner. She especially enjoyed her Burger King breakfast. Above all, Katherine cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought her great joy.

Katherine is survived by her children Arthur L. Stanley, Katherine Britenfeld and William Stanley; 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; and brother Ronald Hungerford.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 19 siblings.
