Edmund was born August 13, 1937, in Kurant, Volhynia, Poland, to Michael & Olga Stadelmayer. Eddy trained as a butcher before immigrating to America in 1954, sponsored by his brother Rudy. He settled in St. Joseph and initially worked for Waldemar “Wally” Pollee in construction, where he learned English. On June 7, 1958, he married Helene Peppel in Benton Harbor, and they spent the next 68 years together until his passing. A dedicated butcher at A&P, National Foods, Rogers Foodland, and Martin’s, Eddy was known in the local German community as the butcher to see to get authentic cuts of rolladen and schnitzel and worked until retiring at 80. Eddy loved his work but his true joy and hope was found in Jesus and his family. He could always be found making a joke, singing, or yodeling when entering a room, especially in his final years. Beloved by everyone he met, he leaves behind a legacy of hard work, perseverance, and love, and will be dearly missed.

Edmund is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helene; children, Harry Stadelmayer of Lake Mary, FL, and Elfi (Gerald) Berzins of Stevensville; grandchildren, Ryan (Samantha) Berzins and Rachel Berzins; great-grandchildren, Zoey, Ben, Lily & Tyler Berzins; sister, Emma Georgii of Germany; sisters- and brother-in-law, Rose Stadelmayer of California, Elsa Stadelmayer of Indiana, Hubert & Linda Peppel of Coloma, Dorothy Peppel of Coloma, Lydia Von Imm of California and Judy Peppel of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Fred, Jacob & Rudy Stadelmayer; and brother-in-law, Heinz Georgii.
