Tara Michelle Lechenet Obituary

Tara Michelle Lechenet, 45, of Benton Harbor, MI passed away Friday, October 2, 2026 at Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.

Tara was born on March 27, 1981, in St. Joseph, MI, to Michael and Debra (Snyder) Lechenet. She graduated from Lawton High School in 2000.

Tara was a gifted artist who enjoyed painting, drawing, and crafting. She had a special talent for creating costumes and took great pride in her creativity. Tara enjoyed talking on the phone with her family and friends and especially loved spending time with them when they came to visit. Tara also enjoyed collecting 1980s memorabilia and had a special love for her cats, who brought her much joy and companionship.

Tara is survived by her mother Debra Flory; stepfather Michael Flory; Fiancé Keenen Thompson; stepdaughter Khloe Thompson; sister Kellie (Gregory) Pugh; brothers Peter (Nancy) Mattner and Michael (Samantha) Flory; nieces & nephews Brianna Pugh, Kayleigh Pugh, Colt Mattner, Owen Flory and Evelyn Flory.

Tara was preceded in death by her father Michael Lechenet.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at the Blizzard Brigade Snowmobile Club, 3085 Fairview Rd., Eau Claire, MI 49111.

Tara’s Celebration of Life will be held as a Halloween Bash in her memory. Family and friends are encouraged to wear a Halloween costume to honor Tara and celebrate her life. Food and beverages will be provided.
